It’s best to meet at Vicroads – Driving lessons for an overseas licence conversion are best conducted on official Vicroads testing routes following exact testing format for best results. We have a higher pass rate this way.
We encourage all clients to meet at the Vicroads so the entire driving lesson can be conducted on official testing routes where you gain a major advantage to passing the driving test.
It takes around 1 hour to complete a Vicroads testing route during the driving lesson including clarifying mistakes, going over your weak points and a full explanation by your driving instructor. If you cannot make it to your local Vicroads we pick you up from an address of your choice or a local train station.
As an overseas driver with a current, valid, full overseas licence you should conduct your overseas licence conversion to Victorian licence in an automatic car as it’s much easier to pass the driving test.
Once you pass the test you will be issued a full Victorian driver licence and allowed to drive a manual car. We encourage all overseas licence holders to do the test in auto car as we have a higher success rate this way.

Good hazard perception means being able to identify and respond to potential hazards in the safest way possible. The three parts of hazard perception are: see, think, do. As a driver, these are used together to develop better hazard perception skills.
See: using your eyes to scan the road ahead and spot any hazards.
Think: thinking about what you need to do ahead of time to respond.
SafelyDo: acting in response to the hazard you see for example, slowing down or creating more space.
Is the hazard perception test the same as the drive test?
No, the drive test focuses on your car handling skills and your ability to demonstrate safe driving on the road, whereas the hazard perception test is computer based, and assesses how you would react to hazards such as other vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists. Tests are taken at a VicRoads Customer Service Centre.
Is the test available in other languages?
Yes, the test is available in the following languages: Albanian, Arabic, Cambodian, Chinese (Mandarin), English, Macedonian, Persian, Russian, Serbian, Sinhalese, Somali, Spanish, Turkish and Vietnamese.
Before you apply for your driver licence test, you’ll need to make sure that you have had 120 hours driving experience with a supervising driver, have learned about the Hazard Perception Test and studied the Road to Solo Driving handbook.
